Jim Cartwright's Road- Compelling Theatre at the Royal Court

Having missed it during its original run at the Royal Court, Jim Cartwright's seminal play ROAD returned to the Royal Court and it has not lost any of its power 30 years on. A superb cast bring this wonderful and poignant play to life exploring the life of a Road of an unnamed northern town during the era of mass unemployment in the 1980's. The play was interrupted part way through by an announcement that there was a technical problem, but this was resolved fairly quickly and didn't detract at all from an excellent night at the theatre.
